Over 8,000 pounds of paper securely destroyed!

Recently, we hosted a Shred Day in partnership with the City of Zionsville! Clients and people from the Zionsville community came together to safely dispose of documents and protect their identities.

During the event, cars lined up as people arrived with years of paperwork ready to be shredded. We saw all kinds of containers, from trash bags and storage bins to shoeboxes and suitcases. People found creative ways to bring in documents they no longer needed. Some of the papers people brought were from the 1930s or even earlier! We shredded everything, from receipts and contracts to letters, financial records, and legal documents. If it was paper, we probably shredded it.

By the end of the event, we had helped around 150 vehicles and shredded over 4 tons of paper (the most we’ve ever shredded!). But what we enjoyed most was talking with clients and neighbors, seeing familiar faces, and meeting new people from the community. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event such a success. We had a blast and are already looking forward to the next Shred Day! Check out the video here.

Why is this event important?

Shred Day offers the community a secure way to dispose of outdated or unnecessary personal documents. Improperly discarding intact documents can increase your risk of identity fraud. To help, we host this complimentary event and provide clients with a secure digital portal for storing financial documents, accessible only to you. This eliminates the need to manage physical paperwork. (Click here to learn more about our digital portal.)

Not sure when to get rid of your financial records, such as your tax returns? Check out our blog on how long you should keep these documents. (Click here to read this blog.)
