Our 2021 summer intern recaps his Storen Financial experience
Each year Storen Financial hosts multiple interns in many different roles within our organization. Ethan joined our team for the summer of 2021. Here’s his story…
Ethan Copner
Purdue University – Finance and Accounting
“My name is Ethan Copner and I am a rising junior at Purdue University, pursuing degrees in finance and accounting. This summer I have had the opportunity to be an intern at Storen Financial, which has immensely increased my skills and knowledge. Some of my responsibilities included assisting with tax returns, bookkeeping, and administrative work. I also took part in weekly meetings to help further my knowledge about the different aspects of a financial services business. I was able to acquire my QuickBooks certification which is a valuable credential that I can use in my future career endeavors. My two biggest takeaways from this summer were learning about professionalism and communication within the workplace. The thing that surprised me the most was how positive the work environment was, as every employee effectively communicated with each other about the tasks and deadlines that needed to be completed. As an intern at Storen Financial, I truly was able to bring classroom lessons into the workplace through the teaching from my coworkers and tasks I was given.
I would highly recommend this experience to other students. This was my first internship and I know that it will set a good precedent for my future career. A piece of advice that I would give to future interns is to ask as many questions as you can to whoever you can, as Storen is full of incredibly knowledgeable and experienced employees. I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity and for the numerous lessons I learned.”
